DECT is a wireless phone standard on dedicated 1.9 GHz spectrum in Thailand. It covers wider area more reliably than WiFi VoIP. Common in factories, warehouses, hospitals, and hotels.

Definition

DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications), an ETSI standard, uses dedicated phone spectrum. In Thailand it operates at 1.88-1.9 GHz, with HD voice via DECT 6.0 / CAT-iq.

Usage

Used where stable voice is needed across wide areas: factories, warehouses, hospitals, hotels. DECT IP base stations plus handsets connect to IP PBX via SIP.

Related Concepts

Multi-cell DECT supports handover between base stations like WiFi roaming. Unlike WiFi VoIP, DECT uses dedicated spectrum unaffected by data traffic.
